In the former Iwadeyama-machi, Mr. Rokkaku handled the design and management of Bontenmaru, the nursery operated by the town. He also handled the Mahoroba Square on the riverbed of the Eaigawa River as part of the Waterside Areas Development Support Project entrusted by the Miyagi prefectural government. This Mahoroba Square was transferred to the former Iwadeyama-machi, and its shared use was started in 1998. At present, it is familiar to people as Attaka River Park, a place for mental and physical refreshment and rehabilitation by having fun, playing, and resting through the sensory experience outdoors. Mr. Rokkaku also served as a member of the Yasuragi Council from 1991. In FY 1992 and 1993, he participated in the planning of the Attaka Village facilities, specified for the Furusato 21 Health and Long-life Town Development Project by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Owing to his contribution, we could draw the grand design of health, medicine, and welfare for the elderly. He also provided suggestions and advice to our town development policies as a Town Development Advisor from FY 1997.
